Happy New Year

Well...where to start? First let me say THANKS for all the kind comments and get well wishes! I am finally feeling better and my ears finally popped just 2 days ago!! It is wonderful to hear normally again and NOT hear myself chew! I soooo enjoyed my quiet time while Shawn and the boys were away! I ended up not stamping very much! I cleaned my house from top to bottom the first day...I know, not really fun but it felt sooo good to get it done and be in a clean house that wasn't immediately being messed up by little kiddos! Then I watched some movies, laid around in my jammies, did some shopping and did a little crafting on the last day! I took some pictures but they didn't turn out...which brings me to my next thing, the reason I have posted so little! My camera is dying! It is dying a slow death. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't...when it isn't working I get pink tinted pictures.
I did get these pictures this morning and they aren't too horrible. These were gift card holders I made for my brother and his wife for Christmas. I found the idea on Andrea's blog. It slides open to the side and the gift card holder is on the inside...I didn't get pictures of the inside cuz my camera quit working! When Kailee went to Seattle she called me one day and said "Mom, Aaron left his gift card holder here!" I said "Oh good bring it home with you...I forgot to take pictures and now I can post them and hang them on my board!!" Otherwise they would have been in the garbage!
Anyway...I did spend most of today stamping and so I am crossing my fingers that my pictures will turn out and I will have something new to share tomorrow! I have been chatting for long enough! Have a good rest of your Tuesday!
chat at ya later!

...for the bride

I made this yesterday for the bride to be...I had a bridal shower I went to. I was in a hurry and so quickly snapped these pictures after I was done so I could go get ready. I forgot to take a picture of the inside...I had already tied the knot and put in the pin and I didn't want to mess it up! It took me a coupe tries to get the knot just the way I wanted it so the pin would sit the way I wanted it to!...so there was NO WAY that I was undoing it for a picture...sorry! Inside though I made a little slot for the gift card and I folded it 3 ways so it opened a little more fun than just a regular card. I colored in the image with blender pens and cut out the bouquet and added stickles so it stood out a little more. In the picture the celery paper looks a little bright but the actual card was really pretty and it was more subtle...like I said I was in a hurry! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!!
chat at ya later!

gift card holder and tutorial

Ok...so before you continue on just be forewarned that this is my first ever tutorial....and I don't know if it went so great! I hope that this doesn't completely confuse you! If you are totally lost than leave a comment and I will try to update and clarify the directions!
...here goes!
First just to make the basic card you will need one 4 inch x 12 inch piece of cardstock, your paper trimmer, a bone folder and sticky strip or some other adhesive.Start by scoring you cardstock at the 4 inch & 8 inch marks. {your paper should be scored in 3 even sections}Then you are going to score the middle square diagonally. You are going to score from top left to bottom right. {If you are using textured cardstock you will want to make sure the less textured side that you will want on the inside of the card is face up}...otherwise it doesn't matter. Now you are going to fold your 3rd section. Fold it so it comes across the top of middle section that you scored diagonally.Next flip your paper over. Now fold the diagonal line back. You will be folding the middle section in half diagonally.Fold the last section down. Now you have your card. Last thing to do is tape down the part that will hold the gift card. I have a couple pictures of where to tape...but you will see after you get your card folded where it needs to be taped. Just make sure you don't tape the opening where the gift card will go! Then just decorate it how ever you would like! Also a big THANKS to Patty for the awesome idea! She always does the cutest things on her blog!!! Check out her blog if you have a minute!! what's in it?...
stamps...Tart & Tangy
paper...real red, old olive, whisper white, Summer Picnic dsp
ink...real red & old olive markers
accessories...red striped ribbon, love & happiness rub-ons
other...sticky strip, scallop punch, 1 3/8 in. & 1 1/2 in. circle punches, dimensionals

Happy Birthday to Me!!!

Happy birthday to me today!!! I am 32 now! I don't feel older or wiser...oh well! I do feel like I might lose my mind though....I am so bored sitting in bed! My surgery went really well and I seem to be recovering fine (I go to the doctor tomorrow)...hopefully he will tell me that I can start being up and around more than bathroom privileges! So you may be wondering how I am at the computer?...well I am cheating, it's my gift to myself, I ventured downstairs and checked my email decided to blog a minute and then straight back to bed! I have kept my foot elevated the whole time though...so really it's ok! ;) I have big plans to have lunch with my hubby and watch some episodes of The Office today!! wahoo!! :) Thanks to everyone for all your well wishes on the surgery...it was so sweet of you!!!
I wanted to share a couple of pics from things we did at our Stamp Club meeting last week. They are just some fun, cute homemade gift/treat ideas....I wanted to do something different than just showing them new things so this time I had all the girls make everything! I think it went really well and it was pretty fun! Anything is fun when chocolate is involved! This one is a M&M holder...it's basically the same thing as a candy bar holder...just slightly different dimensions. {it's 5 1/2 x 6 1/2} I used River Rock for the holder and used my Spot On wheel for the background. I used Real Red and some striped Dashing paper for the band and also used Dashing paper for the scalloped circle. Then I just layered some circles and added a brad and it's done! Super easy!!This one is a cute little 2-4-6-8 box made with acetate. It was really simple...and isn't it soooo darling?!! I filled it with kisses, but you could put lots of different things in it! I used my Wintergreen DS paper to make this and layered lots of circles again for a cute top. I also used my giga square scallop to give the top and bottom a nice finish.Ok...and last was this super easy gift card holder. I found these tiny little paper bags when I was in Seattle (I can't remember what store) and I had to get them...I just decorated the front of the bag and a gift card slides in and fits perfectly. I used my little stocking from the Event Full set...and a few layers to give it some color and finished it with some stitched ribbon!
Ok...last thing and then I will be done...can you tell I have been deprived of the outside world for a while!! :) I am offering some birthday blog candy! Since it's my birthday and ya'll say such nice things all the time, it's time to share something fun with you!! So leave a comment on this post and I will enter your name in the drawing...only enter once please. How 'bout leave a comment on your favorite birthday treat! I love cake, but this year I decided I wanted a French Silk Pie...so my hubby made me one and I can't wait to have some tonight! I will draw a name on Friday night about 7 pm. {what's the blog candy you ask?...well it's a surprise!...when I draw the name I will reveal what it is!!}
Good Luck and have an awesome day!!! :) :)
