i want my mummy...

Happy Friday...Did anyone watch The Office last night? It was awesome! ...wicka, wicka, wicka what? It was one of the best episodes yet! :) My hubby decided to watch the presidential debate tonight and I am bored so I am gonna do some stamping but thought I would first post this mummy card I made. I showed my Stamp Club girls this card. I wanted to show that you can make a cute Halloween card without Halloween stamps. I saw a few different versions of this or something similar on Splitcoast. For mine I just cut some vanilla paper into 1 inch strips and distressed the edges with my distresser. I inked the edges with creamy caramel and started laying them to look like a wrapped mummy. I used my circle punches for the eyes. It was really pretty easy.
I hope you have a fabulous weekend!! I am gonna be hanging out with the family. Shawn leaves town on Sunday for 2 weeks and it's also Tyson's 8th birthday! :)

A chance to give back...

WOW...here is an incredible opportunity to take a few short minutes out of your day to make someones day a little brighter! Check out Cammie's blog for all the details. She is offering some amazing blog candy to go with this awesome thing she started! I like to make cards even when I don't have a reason so that I always have some on hand for when I need them. You never know when you are gonna need to send a "hello". So this is the perfect chance for me to send a few I have in my stash to say THANK YOU for all you do! Here are just a few of the cards I am going to send...

mini backpack

How cute is this little thing!! I am in love with it...I can't wait for a reason to make a whole bunch! I am definitely making one for my boys teachers just for fun...but the possibilities are endless! Of course this was not my idea...I am just a good copier! :) I saw many of these on Splitcoast but found a tutorial from Becky on her blog Inking Idaho. The directions are super easy to follow and once you have one down you are good to go! Don't look to closely at the mistakes on this one...it was my first try but I am anxious to make more...I am thinking some cute Halloween ones!
Ok I am outie...today is my sweet Kailee's 13th birthday!! Can I really the mother of a 13 year old??

Good Monday afternoon! I hope that you are all doing great! I am anxious to get back to stamping and blogging! Again a HUGE THANK YOU for all your kind comments the last few weeks!

All is Well

Hi...I don't even know where to begin! First...we are all ok and doing fine after Hurricane Ike. We were spared compared to most. We are soooo blessed!! I am so grateful for my husband and kids. I wasn't here during the hurricane, I was in Utah for my grandpa's funeral. It was stressful and nerve racking to be away but they were troopers and made it through just fine...my hubby is awesome and he had everything under control! He literally held down the fort while I was gone. My flight was canceled a few times so I was gone 3 days longer than planned. But it's all good now! Second...thank you all so much for your kind thoughts and concern for me and my family with the loss of my grandpa. It really was so sweet of you and it really was comforting to read those comments. I have the best blogging/stamping/crafty friends EVER!! I haven't had a chance to stamp or do anything creative yet so I thought I would show you a couple of pictures of the cute things I found while I was in St. George. They have THE BEST home decor stores ever!! One day I want to drive me and my suburban to Utah, fill up the whole car and then drive home and decorate my house! How fun would that be?! I had to be choosy and only get a couple of things cuz my suitcase space was limited. Darn those baggage fees! Anyway....

Witch Broom

I needed to do something to take my mind off of things and just do something fun. These last 4 days have been long! I found out Friday that my grandpa passed away. I was sorta in shock at first so when Saturday night and yesterday rolled around it sunk in a little more and I have just been sad. I know he is in a better place and I am so glad for that...I just worry about my grammie and hate to think of her being sad and lonely! I am getting ready to leave again for the funeral in southern Utah. I didn't even get a chance to unpack from Seattle...I have just been living out of my suitcase till I leave on Wednesday!
Anyway...I have wanted to make one of these cute Witches Broom treat holders since I saw it in the new Stampin' Up! catalog. {pg 29} It was really easy to make. I bought some smaller kraft colored bags from Michaels....they are 3 1/2in. x 6 3/4in. I used my ruler and hobby blade to cut the bag into strips. I forgot when I was at Michaels to get some sticks so I had to go snag one from the back of one of my bushes! :) I filled a clear treat bag with Halloween Peanut M&M's. {yum!} I tied it with this cute ribbon I also found at Michaels! The little pumpkin face is from the Autumn Harvest set and I just punched it out on a 1 1/4 in circle.
I hope you have a fantastic week. This will probably be my last post until next week. I have 2 birthdays coming up this month though...Kailee & Tyson are turning 13 & 8 so there will be lots to share as I make invites and get ready for their parties!! :)

Alli's baby shower

I'm home, I'm home!!! It is so nice to go on vacation and then even nicer to get back home to my sweet family!! I had such a great time in Seattle! I wish I could've bottled the cool weather and brought it back with me!! :) One of the things I did while I was there was throw a surprise baby shower for my sister Alli, along with my sisters and my mom. Also 2 of my mom's good friends helped us pull it off too!! Thanks Lori and Vicki!!! I made the shower invites a few weeks ago and got them in the mail before I left. Alli was surprised...we pulled it off and we had such a good time! I made a diaper cake too but can you believe I forgot to take my camera and get a picture so I am waiting for one...as soon as I get one I will post pictures (cuz it turned out super cute!!) I found this cute paper at Archivers and then went with that as my inspiration to create the card. I used my little circle stamp from Little Pieces for the body. I used my 1/2 inch circle punch to punch out coordinating papers. The buttons were from Archivers too. I used floral wire to make the antennas. It was a little time consuming but I just planted myself in front of the t.v. watching the Olympics and it made it easy!!
gotta run...so much to do today!

butterfly sparkle

It's Wednesday...I finally have a day to sorta relax! Since I had nothing pressing and we woke up at 7:00 {we are slowly easing our way into school mode} I decided to start the day off with some stamping! I wandered over to the 2 Sketches 4 You blog to see what the challenge was this week...another great sketch! Those girls are so creative!! {and a big Thank You to Angie for turning me on to on their blog!} I used my Garden Whimsy butterfly which has hardly seen ink since I got it! It's a shame I know! I also tried out some Dazzling Diamonds, my 1st time {gasp}! You should be fully awake before messing with embossing powders or glitter though...I dumped my whole jar of heat and stick powder all over the floor! {ugh...} I flipped through the new catalog to find a color combo and used the colors from the Sweet Always paper. I had a hard time making a nice corner with the scallops...so if anyone has any tips!!! {please share} After a 3rd try though I gave up and just stuck with this one! Oh well...
Have a fantastic day...chat at ya later!

tuggin' along

WOW....I feel like it has been forever since I last blogged! I have been sooo super busy! Tax free shopping weekend here in Texas is always when I go do my school clothes shopping (I can't resist saving a few $$ here and there!) so that took all of my Friday and Saturday! My kids are troopers though... a little bribery goes a long way when you make them shop all day for 2 days!...they were so great! They have all grown so much that I didn't dare go without them...they had to try stuff on and I was right...they all grew way to much! You might also be so relieved to know that I found a dress for my brothers wedding (I leave in a week...ahhh!) well if you aren't relieved, I am! So Sunday was recover day after shopping till we dropped and then today was the dreaded cleaning!!
So do I have anything new to share you ask?....NO! Just a card I made a while ago that I never got around to posting! It's pretty similar to one I have done in the past but I was bored when I made this so it got a few extra details! I cut out the windows and added acetate behind them and put brads to the middle of the life preservers. Gotta run...you'd think a small break would be well deserved by now...but no...Shawn is out of town this week so I am mom and dad...I have my Stamp Club tomorrow night and lots to do to get ready!

Hi! Time has gotten away from me...I have so much to do between now and the end of the month! There probably won't be alot of stamping time but I did squeeze in a few minutes today...it took me about 4 hours to get it all in there...a minute here...2 minutes there....you get the idea! I cased a card from the new catalog from (page 120) and it went along with the sketch challenge this week on Splitcoast. I love this color combo too...pretty huh?! purple people eater

Hey everyone! I have been busy with the kids and other various projects so I thought I would share a card I made about a week ago. On Splitcoast there is a demo challenge now called "Wicked". The ever talented Jan Tink showed us this cool technique called moonlighting. There were 3 challenges...all of which I got into this card...the technique, the colors and the layout. As soon as I started playing around with this card I thought of a one-eyed, one -horned flying purple people eater! (except for the flying!) He fits the bill nicely I think! Gotta keep this short today...I have to get to work on a special surprise I have for someone! (can't say who...she might see this)
I hope your week gets off to a fantastic start!!!

almost an inchie

Good Wednesday Morning!!! How ya'll doing? As promised...a card with a new color combo...different than my last 3 posts! Yesterday we had Tropical Storm Edouard blow through which gave us some much needed rain! I spent the day inside with Shawn and the kids, we played games most of the day and just hung out! After dinner I snagged a quick couple of minutes to have some stamp time! I kept it simple. I used the flowers from the new hostess set Window Dressing. I colored the image with blender pens and ink pads and added just a few dazzling diamonds to the middle flowers. This almost made the "inchie" cut but my square is 1 1/4 in. Close enough...as I have mentioned before...I am always a day late and last to hop on any bandwagon...I have just recently learned what inchies are!! {If you have lived in a hole or a closet under the stairs like me then let me shed some light for you!...Inchies are just a one inch square that you can stamp, decorate, embellish, or whatever to add to your card...ahhhh...
hence the name inchie!!} It's ok...you are not alone! Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net
Ok...gotta run...time to be a mom!

a 2 sktches 4 you challenge

I know! I have about run this color combo into the ground! Are you sick of it yet? I just love it! Plus...it has been very helpful in using up a ton of olive and blue scraps I have laying around! I promise my next card will have different colors!...really! I made this card for the 2 sketches 4 you challenge. I love the sketches these girls come up with! You will have to check 'em out! I glittered my chipboard flower. I have been having a lot of fun this weekend playing with my cosmo glitter! The colors are so pretty and glitter is fun! I didn't realize though the "stick" factor when I was playin'! I was trying them out on Saturday before Shawn and I went out on our date and after we got to the restaurant Shawn said "Oh is that new?...What did you put on?" I said "What do you mean?" He said "All the glitter on your face and neck!" Oh man!! After that I felt a little like a 14 yr old girl who tried to goop on all the sparkle make-up possible!! Oh well...what are you gonna do?
Alright enough of the shame...I hope you have a super great week!!! Thanks for coming by!!!
