color inspiration...

Ok...last post for today...promise!! I told you I had a few! :) I made this one also last night when I was up. I made this one for the Color Inspiration Challenge over at Kristina's blog. I love her color challenges...she always has the greatest pics for inspiration. I thought this one might be hard cuz I hardly ever use sahara sand and the colors were pretty neutral...but it turned to be easier than I anticipated. The one thing I did on this card that I was pretty proud of was...I used my versamarker with my color spritzer and spritzed the sahara sand paper and then used clear embossing paper to make it stand out a little more. I am sure that someone else has also thought to use their versamarker in their spritzer but I didn't read it anywhere...it came from my own little head! I stamped the flowers from the embrace life set all over the white...(I would say randomly but I used my stamp-a-ma-jig so that it was evenly random)...I know it's the OCD in me!! Then I added some punched flowers for a little dimension.

a late night randezvous

hmm..catchy title huh?! Angie and I have something in common..we don't always go to bed at those pesky "normal" hours that the rest of ya'll might go by!! We decided that one of these nights when we were both up we would put our waking hours to some good use and do a late night challenge! Last night was our first one...and so we had a "late night randezvous" We finally caught up with each other about 1:00am and Angie came up with our challenge! {which means that I am to come up with the next one??...oh the pressure} Here is the challenge...we used this sketch from 2 sketches 4 you and we used the color combo from Splitcoast which was soft sky, basic black and kraft. Angie also suggested that we throw this one is as well...which she did, but I am ashamed to say I didn't cuz I have no ric rac!! {{gasping}} I know horrible huh...we now know what's on my Archiver's list though don't we! This was super fun and was a great way to kill some time until I was sleepy! Anyone want to join in on a late night challenge?...just email me or Angie and we would love to have you play along...although we may start a little earlier next time...say midnight! {*wink*} Make sure to check out Angie's card too over at schwooo...she made a great one!! popsicle cards

There was a challenge over at Splitcoast to make a different shaped card...no squares, or rectangles, etc. I know this is pretty rectangular but I saw these cute cards somewhere...I can't for the life of me remember where now...(sorry to whoever isn't getting their due credit!!) This is definitely a different shaped card for me...it's on a stick and doesn't stand up...so I am counting it!! These could not be easier...it took no time at all to make them and very little brain power which is good cuz I was up till 3:00am last night. Since I couldn't sleep I had a little late night stampin' challenge (more to come on that later today) These little cards are about 2 1/4 in. x 3 1/2 in. I will have 2 more posts today...so keep an eye out!

a flowery thank you

I made this card a while ago to show my girls in Stamp Club how much fun the Pretties Kit is. This is a pretty simple card. I stamped the flower with regal rose and used all textured paper that I got in my Crew Girl Scrap Kit. At the club meeting I ended up spritzing the flower instead of stamping it cuz I was also showing them the color spritzer. The thank you sentiment is from the Spring Solitude set. Just a quick post tonight...I am trying to reclaim my house after doing the unthinkable and letting it go for one day without cleaning very much! When the kiddos are out for the summer it's like a bomb went off in here some days!! It's all good though...they are helping to clean up all their messes....they just don't know it yet! {*wink*}

I found the funnest summery paper when I was Archiver's the other day. I love it...so much that I bought a ton of it! I thought not only would it be cute for cards but for scrapbook pages too. The paper is great on it's own that I wanted it to be the focal point of the card. I just added some stickles , crystal effects, brads and dew drops to the middles of the flowers to make them pop a little more. I added some fat red ribbon that matched and I was done. Two cards in 10 minutes...LOVE IT!!

another fresh cut card

Ok...I know you are probably sick of this set...but I am really loving it. When I made my other card I stamped two of these images in the black staz-on cuz I knew I would want to make another one with the black background! I just love the look of the black with a hint of color added. I snagged the idea for this spotlight technique from Miss Roxy...check out her cute card. I punched a 1 3/8 in. circle out of a separate image. I colored in only the circle to "spotlight" the beautiful flower. The I popped it up on a dimensional and added it to the image where it was punched from. Fun huh?! I love learning new little things to do to jazz up your card making! I used the same layout as my last card like this too...it was just the easiest way to get the card done!
...for those of you who read my previous post...I was finally able to go to sleep after I finished up on the computer...nothing like a little blog surfin' till you are completely blurry eyed to get you sleepy! I have to be ready to fall over, dead tired before I hit the pillow and sleep. If I am even a little bit "awake" I lay there and my mind starts to wander and I think of all the the things I need to do or didn't quite get done...or whatever else might be goin' on in my head that day! I know...I have tried everything!!!...and I do mean everything to not be that way...it's just in my wiring! :) oh well!
Anyway....Angie...next time I am up...I am totally emailing you so we can have a late night challenge!! Sounds fun!!! :)

a fresh cut note

Well....here it is...Monday night at 10:30pm and I had such high hopes of getting some good sleep tonight (after last nights whole 2 hours and 50 minutes)...but I guess it is not meant to be...cuz here I am posting on my blog!! I laid down at 9:00pm but I gave up and came down to share a card with ya'll! This is just a quick card I came up with to show the fresh cut note cards that are being offered this month from Stampin' Up! {you can check out the link on my sidebar} I originally made this card without the spritzed border...but last week when I was getting ready for my stamp club one of the things I was showing my gals was how to use the nifty color spritzer {one of the most fun toys I have} I went back, grabbed my card and added the border. I love the way it turned out! I stamped the big image in rose red on regal rose paper and popped it up on dimensionals from the inside of the card. I stamped the little flower in old olive and punched it out with an old punch from Stampin' Up! that has the 3 flowers on it {the name escapes me right now} The stamped flower fits the punch perfectly! I added the flower with a rose brad. I cut a stray piece of cardstock just smaller than my card and I spritzed the border with regal rose. Super simple!!
Well...good night...or in my case...just night...I am going to attempt to go back to bed! wish me luck!!

aprons

I saw this on Splitcoast and I had to try my hand at it...aren't they sooo cute! I saw two versions that I liked one from Zany not Crazy (Maren has a fabulous tutorial) and one from Catered Crops. I made a cherry apron becuz I had a yummy Cherry Cream Cheese Pie recipe I wanted to share. I gave this to my hostess for my last workshop. I also thought she needed something else to go with it so I got the idea to make a few small aprons as well. They are about 3 x4 in. I thought it would be cute to add them to pies, or baked goods or a dinner or something that you made for someone else...like a little tag to say what it is or "hope you enjoy"...something along those lines. They were a little time consuming but very fun to do.

Ok...I thought I would share a card while I was posting the treat winner. I made this card to show my girls at Stamp Club that the Fresh Cuts stamp set had more versatility than just being used on the note cards that came with them. I love the contrast in colors on this card. The black paired up with more springy colors. I stamped the image in black staz-on ink & used my blender pens & ink pads to color in the image. That's about it...I am making this a quick post...I have been feeling sick all day and whenever I am in any other position than laying down I get nauseas! ick...so I am off to bed.

Father's Day Wallet

Good Wednesday morning! I got lots of good sleep last night...my schedule isn't as busy as it has been and I am heading to Archiver's with a friend later...should be a great day!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all of you who made my first year of blogging so much fun!!! I have loved reading comments & getting feedback on projects. BUT even more than that I have loved meeting so many of you out there in bloggerland! I feel like I have made some great friends!! Ya'll are awesome...thanks!**Alright...card deets!! This is my dad's Father's Day card (I am pretty sure he doesn't check this so I think I am safe in posting it!) I made him a "wallet". I saw a few different kinds on Splitcoast and after looking at all of them I just kinda made my own version. It is actually a pretty simple card...just adding all the details takes a little time. For the base of the card I used a piece of chocolate chip paper and folded it in half long ways. I trimmed off about 3/4 of an inch to get that first "pocket" in the wallet the one where the $$ would normally go. Then I just started adding more pieces to get the couple of other pockets I wanted. I took some pieces of Close to Cocoa paper and ran them through my Cuttlebug and then sponged them up with chocolate chip ink to give it that leathery worn wallet look. The part of the wallet where your license goes...I decided to use a stamp from the Bronc Buster set. I stamped the sentiment on vanilla paper in chocolate chip ink and spritzed the paper with close to cocoa and creamy caramel. I adhered that part to the base of the wallet. Then I cut out an oval out and put a piece of acetate behind it and popped it up on dimensionals. I added pewter brads and some tabs to the pull out papers. (that will be where we all sign and leave a little message for my dad) Oh last thing...the Happy Father's Day on the front is just from my computer cuz I didn't have a father's day stamp. I outlined the words with my caramel marker and used the color spritzer all over it with caramel and cocoa markers. THANKS for stopping by!!

I was finally able to do Beate's weekend sketch challenge!! It has been forever since I have had the time to do one. I have been in a groove these last few days and when your mojo is there...you gotta run with it!! Right?!! I used the Embrace Life set and the Ginger Blossom paper that goes beautifully with it. I colored the flowers in with my blender pens and then added crystal effects to make it shine. It was really a very simple card. I also used some of my new dew drops...aren't they pretty!!! I love these little things!

I am loving my "So Much" set. Also...I am also loving the olive, red, saffron, pumpkin, and turquoise colors together. So pretty and summery! I realized I went way over board on the amount of pictures I posted but I just couldn't decide on one or two...the colors just are sooo pretty! These are some cards I made for my "friend". She will know who she is when she reads this post! {{wink, wink}} I am even putting them in the mail today...ahead of schedule!!! They are all the same just different color combos with the colors listed above. I also love the "fat" ribbon on these! I wish Stampin' Up! would come out with lots more colors in this stuff! I used a flower from the Stitched Exotics set and the three for you punch for the little flower in the middle. Well that's about it for card deets.

hula penguin

Hey out there...how has the summer been for you so far? We have been loving the sleeping in thing! All the kids get up between 7 and 8...I usually roll out of bed around 8ish and it's so great to not have to be anywhere right away! Oh how I love the summer! The kids are catching up on there morning cartoons and LOVING the fact that sugar cereal has made it's comeback...(I am one of those mean moms that won't by sugar cereal during the school year...so it's a real treat at our house...the kids look forward to it every year when school gets out!)
Ok enough of that on to some card deets...
Yesterday was a lazy day but I did manage to sit down after dinner and make a few cards. I took a super quick trip to Archivers yesterday...(I think I was in and out in record time!) I went to get some paper I needed and found this super darling penguin hula girl stamp I could not pass up! Isn't she so cute? I stamped her twice..once in old olive and once in staz-on black. I cut out the black piece for the top of her and adhered that to the green hula skirt. I traced over the feet with my black marker. I added crystal effects to make her skin look wet and give it that penguiny look, I also added stickles to her bikini top. Originally I added the scallop with a popsicle on it...cuz that stamp also came with the penguin. Then when I was putting the card together I realized they didn't HAVE to be used together...so I used this "one of a kind" stamp I had.

This card was part of an order I did for my aunt. She needed a few grad cards so this is one of the ones I made. I decided to stamp the hat a few times and put them in the squares just to do something a little different with it than I had in the past. I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to get the hats on in just the right place. I colored them in with my Stampin' Up! markers. I didn't have a stamp that would fit into the square for the sentiment...so I printed this off on my computer. Not too many details with this card that you can't already see. I gotta run...Kailee & Austin have their first swim meet this evening! Should be lotsa fun!
