Witch Broom

I needed to do something to take my mind off of things and just do something fun. These last 4 days have been long! I found out Friday that my grandpa passed away. I was sorta in shock at first so when Saturday night and yesterday rolled around it sunk in a little more and I have just been sad. I know he is in a better place and I am so glad for that...I just worry about my grammie and hate to think of her being sad and lonely! I am getting ready to leave again for the funeral in southern Utah. I didn't even get a chance to unpack from Seattle...I have just been living out of my suitcase till I leave on Wednesday!
Anyway...I have wanted to make one of these cute Witches Broom treat holders since I saw it in the new Stampin' Up! catalog. {pg 29} It was really easy to make. I bought some smaller kraft colored bags from Michaels....they are 3 1/2in. x 6 3/4in. I used my ruler and hobby blade to cut the bag into strips. I forgot when I was at Michaels to get some sticks so I had to go snag one from the back of one of my bushes! :) I filled a clear treat bag with Halloween Peanut M&M's. {yum!} I tied it with this cute ribbon I also found at Michaels! The little pumpkin face is from the Autumn Harvest set and I just punched it out on a 1 1/4 in circle.
I hope you have a fantastic week. This will probably be my last post until next week. I have 2 birthdays coming up this month though...Kailee & Tyson are turning 13 & 8 so there will be lots to share as I make invites and get ready for their parties!! :)
chat at ya later
what's in it?...
stamps...Autumn Harvest
paper...only orange
ink...black

accessories...halloween ribbon, linen thread

other...paper bags, rubber band, stick, hobby blade, 1 1/4 circle punch

I am so sorry to hear about your grandpa. I am sure it will be hard for your grandma. Maybe you will be able to comfort her through your crafts.... I know after the funeral people move on and that is when it is so hard on those left "behind".

I love your broom... super cute. AND I love the stick from the real outdoors... nice job!

Funny how I under-utilize that SU catalog as a source for ideas. I think I focus on the stamp images instead of the samples. Yours is cuter, however! Love the pumpkin and ribbon and special colored M&Ms.
Sorry to hear of your loss. I was only 16 when I lost my grandpa, but I recall the pain vividly. My heart goes out to you and your family. Keep him alive in your hearts by retelling your sweet memories to each other.

I'm so very sorry to hear about your Grandpa. I'm sure you'll be a big blessing to your Grammie just being there. Hugs to you and your family and safe travels.

Your broom bag is adorable! and yummy! Really, truly, through all the deaths we've had in our family over the past two years - way too many too soon - my stamping has been what's gotten me through - having something joyful through all the mayhem. Hang tight. It does get better.

Oh Tara..I'm so sorry to hear about your grandpa. I'll be praying for your family and especially your grandma. I completely understand the need to stamp when you're sad...it really does help to spend that time alone creating and dealing with things in life during that time.

Big hugs...
