Birthday Backpacks

I hope ya'll had a fabulous Christmas!!! We sure did! I have been sick and so that's why there have been no posts! I just can't seem to shake off whatever it is I have! I have had it for a little over a week now. I haven't had a chance to stamp anything in forever! Shawners and the boys are leaving in the morning to go camping for 3 days and Kailee is in Seattle...so I have 3 days to myself, in a quiet house to do whatever I want!! Obviously there will be lots of stamping time!!! :) In the meantime I thought I would share these backpacks I made for Kailee's birthday party. These were the invites! It was a sleepover party...so I thought the backpacks would be fun. I found wonderful instructions at Becky's blog...Inking Idaho. Hope you are all sleeping well...as you can see I am up at 2:50 in the AM. ;)

A Christmas Wish

I had the best Sunday...I am sorta bummed it's coming to an end!! I went to church this morning where Kailee sang "O Holy Night" with another girl and she knocked my socks off! I have known she could sing and it's been fun seeing her develop her special talent...but today she was INCREDIBLE!!!! I was in tears...then I had her sing it again at home and I was in tears again!! It was beautiful...I couldn't believe the voice that was coming out of that sweet little 13 yr. old girl!! Then I had a Sunday afternoon nap and I woke up to Shawn making dinner...Zuppa Toscana Soup...it's a fabulous recipe I found and tweaked to recreate the yummy soup from The Olive Garden! Then a fun game with the family and now doin' a little bloggin'!!
Anyway...now that you are all caught up on my day...on to the card. :) I love this set and I haven't had much time to play with it. I thought it was perfect to do the spotlight technique on though! I am hoping to make a few more this week before I have to put it away till next year!!
Have a wonderful evening! ...chat at ya later!

diet coke and chocolate

It's always a good time for a diet coke and some chocolate! I made these for Tyson and Kyler's teachers...just a little something to help them get through their last couple of days this week! I took the water bottle idea...here is a link to the ones I made last spring...and just decided to make it a little more fun! I know, I know water is good for you but nothing beats a super fizzy, cold diet coke! :) Am I right? I tweaked the chocolate holder a little since the chocolate was thicker than the Crystal Light packets I used with the water bottles. I just made it a little more box like instead of pouch like.
Only 6 more days till Christmas...we are super excited here at our house!! All the "christmas schtuff" is done and it is time for relaxin'! I am so looking forward to spending time with Shawn and the kids for the next couple of weeks! Have a great weekend!! :)

A Sleepover...with bears?

Can you believe it is the 16th of December? I can't...seems like every time I mark off one thing on my to do list to get ready for the holidays...3 more things get added!!
Anyway...Austin turned 12 yesterday!! He is having a party this weekend and these are the invites I made (actually just one invite cuz he decided that he would rather have one good friend to play lots of games of Laser Tag and sleepover with, than lots of friends with fewer "tag" games.) Those wheels are always turning in his head! Since I only had one invites to make I decided to make it a fun one! I finally inked up my Under the Stars set! I was searching Splitcoast and found this cute idea...and it turns out it is from Miss Becky at Inking Idaho!! I love her work she is fab!! So thanks for the great idea Becky!! :)
Gotta run...have to mark off some of those to-do's...one of which is to wrap the gifts on the living room floor before the kids get home!!

Milk Carton Madness

Are these not the cutest milk cartons?! I actually hate milk...so these are my kind of cartons...the kind that hold treats and are made of paper! :) A super HUGE thank you to Becky....I purchased the tutorial she offered and it was fabulous! Her directions are easy to follow, there are step by step instructions and great pics to go with! I made these milk cartons for a friend of mine. It's her birthday today...Happy Birthday Holly! This paper and stamp set I used will be one of the new hostess sets offered in the new Spring/Summer catalog that comes out in January. Hand Drawn Bundle comes with a stamp set, designer series paper and rub-ons! It IS the cutest!
I have a big day of shopping tomorrow. I am taking Shawn with me to brave the Saturday shoppers...hopefully we will get the rest of what we need and be all finished! {a girl can dream} Wish me luck!

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...

Hey everyone! Oh, Christmas Tree...Oh Christmas Tree {can you just hear the song?} that's what came to mind as I was making this card! I snagged this idea from Heather. She made a smaller tree on a gift tag and I decided to go big and do a card. {I think that's the motto here in Texas...go big or go home!} It's so cute...I am going to make a few more of these for some of my Christmas cards. {{gasp}} No my cards aren't done yet...not even close! Oh well...that's me...always workin' till the very last minute...I work best under pressure and stressed out...at least that's what I have been telling myself for years! :)
Ok...on to more fun news! Only 2 days till my birthday!! Can you feel the excitement? I sure can! I will be the ripe 'ol age of 33!! I feel a little old...I am the oldest in my family so I am always hitting that "old" milestone before anyone else which makes it worse than those that may not be the oldest in their families! {my brothers and sisters don't let me forget it either! nor does my hubby even though I am only older than him by 2 months!} ;)
Have a super fantastic day!!! Thanks for coming by!!!

Reindeer Pouch

Good Monday Morning! So this morning I woke up with one swollen eyelid and it hurts to blink. {and let me tell ya...it's oh so pretty!!} I am not sure what the deal is I am keeping an "eye" on it though! ha!
Alright....let me start by saying that I am way too impressed with myself. I made this little reindeer pouch all by myself...no caseing! I am sure that I am not the only one who came up with this cuz it's pretty basic but I am just so pleased with myself none the less!! :) I saw a little foam reindeer face at Michaels and I thought I can do that with paper...and so I did! I used my pennant die cut for the face. I punched out circles for the nose and eyes. I put some crystal effects on Rudolph's nose to make it shine just the right amount! :) I drew the antlers and cut them out and adhered them to the inside of the pouch. The little holly leaves...I started with a little rectangle piece of paper and then I used my 1/2 in. circle punch and punched all the sides to get pointed leaves. I used dew drops for the holly berries. I added some paper shred and then it's ready for fillin'! I had candy in it ...but that was a few days ago and well...I ate it...I waited too many days to take a picture! I came up with this as one of the projects for Crafty Friday. Tyson and Kyler's classes will be making these this Friday. I had so much fun making santa ornaments last week with the kids.
Ok...enough babble from me! Have a great day...thanks for coming by!

Super Cute Treats!!!

Is this not the cutest?!!! I wish you could see it in person...the pictures do not do it justice!! {plus I am not a great photographer!} Of course I didn't come up with this...I was just quick to case it! Andrea came up with this...she even has a great video tutorial on how to make these cute treats! She used gumdrops and gummy treats {which would be perfect for kids} but I wanted to use chocolate because it's my one true love! ;) I did 4 different circle sizes because my clear bag is only 9 1/2 inches long. When I did the 3 layers there was alot of open space so I decided to add one more layer of circles. The peanut butter cups slid onto the skewer easily...no breaking! I made 2 of these to take to Ty and Kyler's teachers tomorrow...I will be up at the school doing crafts with each of their classes. Their teachers asked me to do craft Fridays for the next 3 weeks with their classes. They wanted the kids to make some fun crafts to do between now and when they go on break. So I have some darling things to show you tomorrow of what we will be working on!! :)
gotta run...kids are calling!

Hi to all my blogger friends out there in cyberworld!! :) I so appreciate you checking out my blog and all the kind comments you leave! You know how to make a girls day! :)
So many of you have asked about these snowflakes----> and want to know how to make them! Here is a link to the video I watched! Monica Gale makes beautiful things...plus I love her accent!
Listed below are a few other links to some directions and tutorials. Here are a few things I did with mine and then you can go to town on your own!!!
I used 3x3 squares to make my snowflakes. I also used glue dots for my adhesive, double stick tape isn't strong enough, it eventually comes apart...so use something with some stick power! I only did 5 squares but 6 works too!

tutorial #2...shows photos and written instructions
tutorial #3...written instructions and diagrams (I folded mine the way this tutorial shows)

Hope that this helps for all of you who wanted to make these! They are fun, super cute and really not that hard...just takes a little time!

Just a very quick card I made a while ago. I have seen so many cute things with crumpled, distressed circles made into flowers. I went for a Christmas flower. This is a super simple card...I think I made it in 10 minutes!

A Thanksgiving Table

Happy Thanksgiving weekend!!! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! We had a fabulous Turkey Day! It was so relaxing...full of family time! It was perfect. We didn't have any visitors and we didn't go anywhere it was just us and we loved it! I thought I would share our Thanksgiving table since it was very crafty. I have been working on it here and there over the last few weeks. I like to keep things simple when it comes to the table so that the clean up is that much easier. I have never been big on "real" plates...cuz it's just more dishes to wash. I always find cute square paper plates and then we pull out the fancy wine glasses so we can have sparkling cider! So...under the flowers is a placemat type thing I made. I got the idea from Mary Jo's blog. It was so easy...you just cut out the large pennant die in different coordinating papers with your Big Shot and tape them together. The confetti circles are just extras from cutting out the pennants. I made some paper pumpkins for the center too. Each person got a pillow box with Andes Mints in them. I punched a big scallop circle from my giga scallop punch to put under the sparkling cider glasses. I used some dsp from last year that I had for the place mats under the plates...the colors just happened to match my Autumn Vine paper. The last thing is the name cards...I posted those awhile ago...I used some Doodlebug Rub-Ons for the names.
Have a wonderful rest of your holiday weekend!

Love Owl-ways

WooHoo for Friday...I am glad the week is over! I am sooo looking forward to a fun Thanksgiving week next week...only a few more days to go!! I should be doing my laundry right now but there is nothing that says STAMP like laundry looming overhead! I thought I would do Beate's weekend challenge since it's been awhile since I have been able to participate. I have had this darling Love Owl-ways set for weeks and haven't been able to ink it up so it was time to end the neglect! I stamped the images in black StazOn. I colored in the owl with blender pens and ink pads. I cut out the mailbox & lots of hearts {very tedious work...my wrist is really loving me now!} and made the hearts look like they spilling out of the mailbox. The designer series paper piece is from the Country Living Holiday Kit. Ok...I have to go...that laundry is not going away!
Have an absolutely super fabulous weekend!!!!

santa claus

This cute santa came from Heather...check out her awesome video tutorial. This is super cute and really, really easy. I decided to attach it to a card but I am also going to make some as tags for gifts because inside his beard is where you can write the "To: & From:". I stamped 'Merry Christmas' inside this one but I forgot to get a picture of it!...oops! Also I don't have the scallop die from Stampin' Up! yet so I used my Marvy Giga Scallop Punch...which I think is pretty close to the same size as the die. I added some crystal stickles to the white on the hat but when I make it again I am going use diamond cuz this has a pink tint to it. I think the diamond stickles are more clear. I inked the edges of my kraft paper with white craft ink and added the red ribbon...that's it! SUPER EASY!
Have a great Thursday. I am going to be getting ready for our City of Katy Tree Lighting tonight. Kailee is singing with her choir there and they have some fun activities. Then we have our own little NYC Rockefeller Center moment when Katy's tree is lit! It's fun! :)

Lollipop Tree

Wow is it Tuesday already? The weekend went by so fast...so did Monday. I didn't get any stamp time till now! That's ok though...I had an absolutely fabulous weekend with my family.
I figured I would start out the morning with the color challenge on Kristina's blog. I immediately thought of my tree set when I saw the colors. I have wanted to make a Lollipop Tree since I saw so many cute ones on Splitcoast. I don't know why I am calling it a Lollipop Tree...that's just what it looks like to me! This was super easy. I just punched out circles in different sizes and crumpled and distressed them and add them to the tree with saffron brads. The sentiment if from the Seasonal Sayings rub-ons.
I hope you have a fantastic Tuesday! Thanks for coming by!

sparkly birthday cupcake

A quick post for today...I have such a busy night with all sorts of kid things going on! I wanted to take a few minutes to stamp for fun since I have been working on orders lately! I went to Splitcoast to check out the challenge for today...it was to use watercolor paper. That means I had to watercolor...well not had to, choose to! {bad idea} This is an area that I am not very good at...and that's putting it nicely! I just can't seem to get it down. I really think my "Monk" like qualities get in the way...I feel like I need to color it all in! I really need somebody who is good at this to show me how to do it...in person! Any takers?
Anyway...here is my card. I attempted a watercolored cupcake. After I colored it, I covered the edges in Cotton Candy Stickles...the flame and the sprinkles have Crystal Effects on them. The saying is from the Seasonal Sayings rub-ons.
Ok...gotta run...my kids are already starting in on me!!

Hey! It's Wednesday...where did the week go already? I don't know but I am glad it's going by quickly! We have a super fun weekend planned so I am anxious for Saturday to get here. We are taking the kids to Dewberry Farms. If you live in the Houston area...you should go, looks like tons of fun! This will be our first year to go!!
Anyway...I made this for color challenge #30 over at Kristina's blog. I love this color combo...very soothing colors. I tried out the rhinestone in the filigree brad thing...love it!
