happy bird-day

Hey everyone!! How is your Tuesday?...mine is great so far...I have a list 10 feet long of to-do's but they aren't goin' anywhere so I thought I would start the day with some stampin' fun! I made this card using the Monday Mojo sketch from Julee's blog. I thought this was a great layout and a fabulous way to use some more of my Hey Sugar Cosmo Cricket paper! This paper has great colors in it!!...don't ya think? I decided to sand the edges of all the paper and the brads too (see close up pic for brad detail)...since the paper had a distressed look to it already I thought this was a good way to go! I used my markers to color the cute little bird from the Pun Fun set. I added a scalloped edge, a flower with a button (which I got from Target dollar spot and colored with my marker) and I was done...this was a super simple card...I love fast!! :)
Have a fantastic rest of your day!!! {hugz} Tara

One other thing to share with you today! I saw these on Jen's blog...check them out here. They were such a cute idea so I made one for my daughter...she needed something to keep her school ID safe ...(safe from her losing it!) It is her identity at school! :) So what's better than a school ID?...a cute handcrafted by your mom school ID!!...Am I right? I used Crate Paper...the Cowgirl Collection and added some punched out flowers with brads. I added just enough ribbon and I was done...took a whole 15 minutes to make!!
** {{DISCLAIMER ...Kailee about died when she saw me taking pictures of this to post on my blog! She is horrified at the picture on the ID...it's from 3rd grade!! Why do they use a 3rd grade picture for a girl in 6th grade...who knows?...the word is next year she will get a real picture! These things are a big deal when you are 12!!}}

sugar dahlia

First...Happy Monday!! Second...I am just quite pleased with myself today...so if you aren't into the whole "patting myself on the back thing"...you may want to skip reading this post & just look at the pics!! ...cuz here is about how I feel today with this super cute card I made!! On Mondays at Splitcoast they have the "Try a new Technique" challenge. I have never done one of these...today was my first time! Click here to see the low-down on todays challenge! There were instructions to make this super neat dahlia flower out of paper!...how fun?..huh! So I thought why not give it try and I get to use my new Cosmo Cricket paper! So I think the pictures speaks for themselves and how happy I am with the way it turned out!! Isn't it darling...I LOVE this paper too!!! ...so yummy! I backed the flower onto a 3 1/4in. circle. I also used a build-a-brad for the middle of the flower to give it a nice big center! I added a ribbon and some little brads. I decided to leave it sentiment-less....so that I can use it whenever I want...in case I decide to keep it and admire it for a while!!!
Thanks for stopping by today and putting up with big head and puffed up chest!!

a big heart

I made this card for Beate's weekend sketch challenge. Check out her blog to play along! This is a great layout! I used more of my Cloud 9 dp....I just love the embossed hearts & the color. I chose a chocolate chip card base...it's just normal card size...5 1/2 in. x 4 1/4 in. I used my markers & blender pens to color in the image. I used clear embossing powder on the heart & colored it with a regal rose marker so it would match the hearts in the paper! I added my sentiment with some ribbon & a small heart. It needed something in the corner to even it out so I used my photo corner punch to add a little something & added diamond stickles to the brads to make 'em sparkle. Have a great weekend!

and the project is?....

...a catty knock-off! I have been wanting to make one of these since I saw the idea in the Stampin' Up! catalog...click here to see the catalog version. I already had the ceramic vase...for a few years I have had it out in different places & it's always been empty...so yesterday it hit me that it was a perfect vase for this project!! I love when inspiration hits! I was to impatient to order the felt flowers from the catty so I ran to Hobby Lobby & found these flowers by American Crafts. I really love the colors...they are a perfect fit for my decor. I bought some sticks in the floral dept. Then I took it home & started assembling. It was actually quite easy...getting all the sticks in just the right place is what took me so long! My OCD did not help!! I used a hot glue gun to make the branches just the way I wanted them & also adhered the flowers with that too. For some of the bigger flowers I added a rhinestone brad & for the small ones I added a pearl. I also wanted to add rub-ons to the vase but I felt like it would be too much so I just added a chocolate ribbon...{not sure if I will keep that or not?...what do you think?} I am attaching a bunch a different pic to this post because I had a hard time taking one I liked. This is going to sit on my mantle. The wall looks white & boring behind it even though my walls are not white! I am not photographer...so attaching all my pics instead of having one good one will have to do!!
Have a wonderful weekend!!! {hugz} ...T

a teaser!...

Today was cold & rainy & blustery!! A perfect day to spend indoors stamping, crafting & reading by the fire! I ran to Hobby Lobby to grab a few supplies & then headed home to get busy! I made something that I have been wanting to make a for a little while now!...BUT you are going to have to wait a day or two to see it! I know it's just mean isn't it! Well...it's all finished I think...I have been tweaking it all day!! I am going to wait to see if I can get some better lighting before I post the pics though...{wanna hint?...part of my project is in the picture.} and speaking of the picture...when I finally made it to the park with the kids to take Christmas card pictures ( which was after Christmas) I took a bunch of black and white ones, just messin' around. I found one of each of the kids that I liked & decided to frame them...after they they were framed & set up I thought ya know...Kailee's picture needs something girlie to separate her from all those boys...so I found these cute flowers at the Target dollar spot and they were perfect! A little color & a little bling!! I punched holes right in the picture to attach the flowers & brads...& the glass fit over them, no problem. Anyway...make sure to check back to see what my project is & hopefully you will like it too...now that I have it all built up!! You guys are awesome...thanks for checkin' in & leaving such sweet comments!!

a challenge...

Who doesn't love a challenge? I combined the color challenge at Splitcoast with Beate's weekend sketch challenge and this is the card that happened! On Friday I got my Sale-a-bration preorder & I love this birthday set! Isn't it cute?...check out the sale-a-bration catalog if you want to see the whole set! I did lots of distressing to almost every piece of paper and I added brads to the gifts...not sure what I think of them now that they are on there...seemed like a better idea in my head! Anyway I have to go...lots to do on my list today but I had to take a minute to stamp!....you know how it is!!!

Hi! I am so excited about another day off tomorrow...we aren't sure we are going to do yet...but it'll be nice not to have to wake up to the alarm clock & rush out the door! This is the kind of Monday I can get on board with!
My friend asked me to make a special birthday card for her good friend...she liked the bursting hearts card I did...so I made another one...just more birthdayish. unforgettable friend

I have been so anxious to ink up this cute elephant!! Isn't she the cutest thing! I made this card for a very good friend of mine...her birthday is next week...but I wanted to get a quick picture before it went into the mail. I used this yummy "Be Loved" paper I found yesterday...some of the hearts on it are embossed. The card is a 5 1/4 square...I used my blender pens & markers to color in the image. I cut out out one of the hearts from the paper to put on the elephants trunk. I used my corner rounder to make the scalloped edge...added some brads & clear dew drops...and finally some ribbon! Have a fabulous weekend! :) Thanks for coming by!! ...T

hip-hip-hippo-ray

So I finally tore myself away from my reading...only for a minute though to make a card with one of my new sets...Pun Fun. I love this hippo...isn't she the cutest!? I did a 4 1/4 square card. I used my blender pens to color her in. I used the Cutie Pie DSP....but I didn't want the red dots to show so my layout worked around that! I used a sticker strip from an old Simply Scrappin' Kit and put it on top of the ribbon! I also added some crystal effects to the balloon, bow and toenails...every girl whether a hippo or not should have pretty shiny toes!! :) Well...I am off...I have to take Kyler to school and then I get 3 whole hours to try and finish my book!!! Yippee for Thursdays!!

neglect!!

Hey everyone! How's the week been? Mine has been well fun for me...not my family! I have totally neglected everyone and everything in my life cuz I got hooked and sucked into the books I have been reading!! Have you ever done that?....it's just sooo good you can't put it down! I did shower...but I am not totally sure I brushed my teeth, dinner didn't get made, dishes were left in the sink, laundry continued to pile up & I even got a stamp order delivered and still haven't touched it!!! Well...I thought I would just start the book so I could read and fall asleep on Sunday night....but wouldn't ya know it?...it got interesting! So I stayed up till 4:00AM reading...finally when I realized I only had 2 hours of sleep I forced myself to put the book down and go to sleep...it wasn't easy! Then I had to finish on Monday and when I did I immediately went to book 2 and the neglect continued! Anyway...so you must be wondering...what is it that is so good! Twilight, New Moon, & Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer. I certainly don't want to ruin anything for those of you who haven't read the books....so I am not going to say anything...but it is the best few hours you will spend reading if you choose to have your life come to a grinding halt too!! For those of you who have read them....you know what I am talking about! :)
Ok...on to some card stuff...obviously these were made before the reading began...I just wanted to make some quick 3x3 cards and put them in an origami box for a little gift set. The pictures pretty much explain them all! Happy Wednesday and Happy reading...to me anyway! ;)
