a shower invite

Ok so I made some changes to the baby shower invitation.. it just didn't look quite right to me and so I tweaked it a little. I decided to do the invites in pretty in pink instead of regal rose...just seemed more appropriate to me. I also thought the black 'your invited' seemed to harsh and so I chose Old Olive instead. I did away with the brads (even though they are super cute) and opted for piercing holes in each scallop of the rectangle. I think everything else is pretty much the same. If you want all the card details they are at the bottom below the old pic...what do you think?....are the changes better? :)
Here are a couple things I was able to make last night...things got a little to crazy to post them though..sorry 'bout that. The first one is a baby shower invitation. Do you like it? I used my 'just arrived in the mail about 30 seconds earlier' Paper Tray stamp set!! It's my first Papertrey Ink set...I love how many things you can do with it...lots and lots of sentiments! The invite is actually just a postcard type...with all the info on the back.
what's in it?...
stamps...Event Full, Paper Tray, Itty Bitty Backgrounds
paper...regal rose, whisper white, certainly celery, barely banana, pretty in pink
ink...regal rose, certainly celery, black, old olive
accessories...white button brads, rose "fat" 5/8 ribbon
other...blender pens, marvy giga rectangle scallop punch, paper piercer & mat pack

a sketch challenge

This is a card I made for a sketch challenge on Julee's blog Poetic Artistry. Check out her blog it's great!! I have been wanting to use this little truck for a while and just haven't yet. It has been in the neglected pile for a long time now!! My color inspiration was from Corinne at Stamping with Roxy (I also used her cool ribbon tying trick too!!). She made a cute card with the brown, olive & guava. I threw in blue cuz I just needed one more color! I am going to make another card with this color combo...I LOVE IT!! It's so pretty! :) I colored the truck with my blender pens and I layered, inked edges and distressed all over the card. Underneath all the brads I punched a little circle with my regular ol' paper punch just to jazz them up a bit. I used my chocolate "fat" ribbon cuz any excuse to put it on a card is a good one! Enjoy...I will have at least one more post later this evening and maybe 2! So check back in when you get a minute! (oh sorry the pic is a little dark...it's raining and dark outside so it's the best I could get...what are ya gonna do?) Thanks for stoppin' by today! :)
what's in it?
stamps...Loads of Love

ink...chocolate chip, soft sky, old olive, groovy guava, going grey

priceless & back to school

I have loved the Priceless set from the moment I saw it! I finally ordered it and was so excited to make something with it and then it sat here for about 3 weeks gathering dust!! I couldn't figure out what to make...then last night I had an idea!! So here it is! I took my color combo from the Creative Licence SS Kit (hostess gift). It also gave me a chance to use my Blue Bayou which I haven't really done either. I used my new Giga Scallop Circle punch and used the little 'dot' from the the Three for You punch set to add dots all the way around the circle. I cut out the butterfly to make him look like he was flyin' and added a few stickles cuz he just needed some sparkle! Enjoy!! I am hoping to get some things made today since the kiddos are back in school!

Beate's WSC #16

I love Beate's weekend sketch challenges...and I love them even more when I have a chance to sit and do one!! I really liked this one...it made me think a little. For info on the sketch challenge click here. I decided to use my Eat Cake set...I don't use this one as often as I would like. I really like the color combo, it's so fun! I also liked using alot of brads...it was fun! I did lots of inking the edges, cuz I love that look. Ok...well I am off to get ready for church and play a game with the kids before we go!! :) ...T

cutest backpack!!

Is this the cutest backpack you have ever seen?...or what? :) I cased this from "rainy" over at Splitcoast Stampers. She has great cards and does beautiful work. Which is why she is part of the Dirty Dozen over at SCS...if you haven't joined the fan club you should...this is where I found the cute backpack card! Anyway...I changed mine a little bit from the original. I just cut and tweaked (a little trial and error) to make my own template for the backpack. I used twill tape sponged in Night of Navy for the straps, which are attached between the navy and a piece of kraft on the inside so you can still open and close the card. (see pic below) I pierced all over the whole thing and did faux stitching with a black pen. I am going to make these for the kiddos teachers, since Monday is the first day of school!! I am going to change the name to make it their own though! ;) Have a great Sunday!!
what's in it?... stamps...Canvas background
paper...night of navy, brocade blue, kraft, white
ink...night of navy
accessories...silver brads, twill tape

ink...whisper white, green galore, lovely lilac, only orange, black StazOn

what do you think?...

This isn't a new card...I posted it a few weeks ago. (if you want card details you can find them here) I didn't make anything new to show you cuz I was working on making a watermark for my pics! So here is a pic with the watermark on it...tell me what you think...any helpful hints or things you think could look better? This was my first attempt so I am open to suggestions...thanks for helpin'! I am going to bed now...I was so excited to play around with this I totally did not notice the time...it's almost 1:00AM...eek!

tag...your it...again

So, I was tagged by my dear friend Emily...you can see her cute blog here. I never quite know what to say so I am going to do just some of the old standards of "what's you favorite"?...
food- Tacos...hands down, then a close 2nd would be anything Mexican!
drink- diet coke...only I have recently decided to kick the habit of drinking way to many (I won't say how many, cuz it's just bad)...so I am hoping that water will make this list soon! Oh...a diet cherry limeade from Sonic...yum!
color- I like a lot of colors, but I love a pretty green!
movie- A League of their Own (because it's the first movie I remember laughing really, really hard at)
t.v. show- all time favorite...Friends...but right now has to be Grey's Anatomy
guilty pleasure- anything chocolate!!!!!!!!!
sport- basketball
season- fall....cool weather, all the gorgeous colors, Halloween, leaves falling off trees, kids going back to school ;), I could go on and on
things to do- so many...stamping, scrapbooking, baking/cooking, bubble baths, car races, listening to music, staying in pj's when it rains, decorating for the holidays...I'll stop there...or it could go on for a long time!
dream job- besides my current one of being a mom...I have two... 1)I would love to be on a design team for a stamp company and 2)own a cupcake/cookie shop!!...how cool would that be if I could figure out how to combine the two...being around cupcakes all day while being crafty!! :) :) {big smiles}
So now it's my turn to tag a few gals....so I will Tag Angie T. & Megan B. & Jenn D. & Corinne S. aka Roxy ;)
You girls are great...

Groovy Skies...

...that's today's color challenge at Splitcoast Stampers. Only 2 colors was a little trickier than I thought it would be...I found myself wanting to grab more colors but didn't! crazy weekend!

It's been a few days since I posted anything cuz it's been so crazy busy here! We had our annual tax free shopping this weekend in Texas, so the kids and I ventured out to get all the school clothes they needed! We spent 8 hours shopping...till we literally dropped! We were all soooo tired when we got home! We found everything we needed though and we had a fun day together. We only had a few hours to rest though cuz then we were getting ready for the much anticipated High School Musical 2 party!! We had 15 kids comin' to watch and sleepover! {It was a moment of insanity when I agreed to it!!} :) It was really fun and all the kids were great it's just that they stayed up ALL night long. So we spent Sat. and Sun. recuperating **Anyway...on to card stuff! This is a card I made for Beate's weekend sketch challenge. I need a few baby cards so I made this one to fit the challenge. I choose the colors using my SU color coach...I'm not sure what I think of them yet...it's not a combo I would've chosen but it is kinda growin' on me. I used the retired Baby Talk set. I love the phone cord comin' out of the stroller. I used my Cuttlebug then sponged the embossed paper with pink to soften it a bit. I added some 'bling' cuz even baby girls need bling! :) Thanks for stopping by...Have a FABULOUS week!!

It was so easy and fast. It gave me a chance to use my new Giga Scallop Square Punch! it is the coolest thing....when they say Giga, they mean Giga, the thing is HUGE!! :) I kept the card simple and used one little stamp from the Priceless set. I added a rhinestone brad and some silver cord and 'whalla'!

fill 'er up!

Ok...so my complaining must've done it for me!! My mo-jo hit me, of course timing was terrible, but you take what you can get, right?! It came right as I was starting to get sleepy last night! I had even crawled into bed already! I suddenly got a cute idea for my Christmas cards this year!! I think that's what made me have such a block...I have been over thinking my Christmas Cards for this year. I knew I wanted to use the new In Colors, but beyond that I was blank. {My OCD has prevented me from thinking of much else since early last week, cuz I didn't want to be stuck on Dec. 20th, scrambling to get my cards finished and in the mail! I want to have them done well in advance so I can enjoy the holidays more!} So then how could I sleep after the idea hit?! The best part was I had everything I needed, I didn't have to put in a late night order and wait for stamps to be delivered!! I came downstairs and whipped up a card! I wanted to keep it simple...easy, simple cards for Christmas (cuz I send out alot) Anyway...this is it! Tell me what you think...I am still going to play with it but this is the basic idea! I think it needs a background or wheel on the card base...something I just don't know what yet...if you have anything for me, let's hear it!
I also had time to do the sketch challenge that was on Splitcoast Stampers today...it's a simple one...I thought anyway. :) I love the green, blue and kraft color combo, it's so pretty. I wanted to use my DS Fall Flowers paper, so I took my inspiration from there. Happy Wednesday to ya'll...may you be able to find your mo-jo too!!

hang in there...

...that's how I feel...I lost my mo-jo. It's packed up & left...& I don't know when it's comin' back!! I got a couple of new stamp sets on Friday & was so excited to sit & play with them & see what I could come up with...and nothin'! So I came back to it later and still nothin'! So to make a long story short...it's gone, the creative juice has ran away..only temporarily I hope.
One good thing came from my slump...since I couldn't get into a creative mode I gave in and took the kids to Walmart to get all of the bazillions of school supplies they needed! After carefully explaining to the kids that there will be no fighting, there will be no throwing things in at random & there will be patience (and a quick McDonald's bribe if they were good) we went in with 3 long lists, 4 kids, one nervous mom and a pen to cross off the items tossed into the cart. We made our way through and found almost everything we needed! We left just about 2 hours later with a much lighter wallet and a receipt about 20 feet long...(and we did get to stop off at McDonalds on the way home!) :) Anyway...I finally forced myself this afternoon to try to do something and this is what I came up with. So I am gonna "hang in there" till the mo-jo comes back!! Hmmm...I just had a thought...maybe it's cuz it is sooo horribly hot! It's hard to think when you are melting away! :) Anyway...thanks for checkin' in!! Have a great week! ...Tara

mr. & mrs. pumpkin

These cute little pumpkins just looked like Mr. & Mrs. to me when the card was finished! Maybe it's just me?!...It took me a long time to do this one...I couldn't get the creative juices flowin' as quick as I wanted to. Oh well...it's done now and for now I am satisfied. I did a 5 1/2 square card. I used my Cuttlebug and swirl embossing folder on the pumpkin pie paper. I sponged the swirls with pumpkin ink, but you can't really tell in the pic. I backed it in white, sponged with pumpkin pie cuz the white alone was too bright to me. I stamped the pumpkins with black on pumpkin pie cardstock and did the stems on river rock paper. I used the swirl from Baroque Motifs to get a vine look behind the pumpkins. I added a little plum paper, some black ribbon and brads and I was finally finished!! {makes me wish it was fall...playin' with pumpkin stamps and after the heat today here in the Houston suburbs...I am wishin' for the cooler fall weather!!}

Happy Harvest

I had time to make one more card this evening while my kids were busy playin' with friends! I ordered this cute Autumn Harvest set from the Holiday Mini too. I think it is sooo darling..I can't wait to use it with the little face to make a jack-o-lantern! I also attempted to watercolor it with the aqua painters I got, but I think I am gonna need to practice still! It's a tricky thing! It didn't turn out quite the way I was hoping it would....oh well. I used my cuttlebug to emboss the wild wasabi paper, and added a strip of chocolate chip with acorns stamped on it. I sponged the edge of the white paper in river rock and added the happy harvest sentiment from my Loads of Love set in choc. chip. This orange anchor I had matched well with the pumpkin pie paper...just a lucky find at Archivers! Last but not least I added a few strips of Wild Wasabi ribbon! Have a wonderful rest of your Wednesday!! :) ...Tara

A true friend

My UPS man came...Yippee!! I very quickly sat and mounted my stamps!! (cuz the Holiday Mini stamp sets are die cut...so cool) I made a quick card before I had to get back to the kiddos! It was so easy...I embossed the sentiment so it would stand out and sponged the edges of the image to make it stand out a little too. I did some paper piercing & I added a green rhinestone brad to the middle of the flower, cuz a little bling makes everything better! :)

yummy summer ice cream!!!

Don't ya just love when it's hot outside (and humid, your hair is a mess and your all sweaty) and you crave ice cream....so you give in and get a really good one and it totally hits the spot!! :) I do! I love a good ice cream cone every once in a while! My favorite kind, well do I have to pick just one?! There is a place here in Katy called Ritters...to die for....everything is so good. I also love Baskin Robbins, mint chocolate chip, not fancy, but good! If I was eating at home then it would have be Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey! :) Anyway...This cute little cone is part of the the new Doodlebug set I got last week. I decided to use the ice cream and choose 4 yummy colors to make the cones...colors that just happened to match the new ribbon I got in the mail today! :) I colored the cone in with my blender pens and added sparkle to the cherries and a little shine to the blue cone with Crystal Effects. If you haven't checked out Ribbons and Bows Oh My, you must!! They have great ribbon and great colors and great prices!! All of the ribbon in this card is from them, and they all match the SU colors!! Have a really wonderful Wednesday....I will be anxiously awaiting Mr. Brown...he should be bringing me something today!! **if only I could get him here first thing in the morning, hmmm!**

one more

I had to do another one of these cards!! I am actually repeating 2 things...the sketch challenge that is on Beate's blog right now & I am using the same paper and stamp set that I had used a while back making a square card (you can see it here). I had made that card with someone in mind, (my little sister Allie, who just got engaged!!...YIPPEE!) so I made this one to keep on my board. {Doesn't this cute dress and sentiment just seem to say "Congrats on you engagement?...I think so!!} Anyway...I really love this paper from Cosmo Cricket..it's so pretty, it matches 2 of the new In Colors so well, River Rock and Soft Sky. This stamp set is one from last years Stampin' Up! catalog but the flowers that make up the dress go so well with the paper, I just didn't see anything else in my stack of stamps that was calling out to me more than this one. Well....it's late and I am starting to get blurry-eyed! Have a terrific Tuesday! Thanks for stoppin' by and for all the sweet comments you leave!! :)

Beate's Sketch Challenge

Well...I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! I did! My hubby has returned from his 50-mile backpacking trip with the scouts! (14-17 yr old boys) He came home unharmed & happy (just a little scruffier) with lots of stories!..and we were happy to have him back!

This weekend I stumbled across Beate's blog and boy is it cute!! I must be the only one who didn't know about it! :) If you are one of the few like me who haven't seen her blog...go check it out, she as great stuff! She had a sketch challenge and I decided to take it on! It's a really different and fun way to make a card besides the normal "fold a sheet of card stock in half" way. I used my Bronc Buster set again...and my Cosmo Cricket paper from their "Wanted" collection. (luv it) I used my star punch on a sheet of the patterned paper too. The sentiment is from the paper pack...I just cut it down to size. I am definitely going to be using this layout to create more cards!! Have a great week!!!

I made these cards using my first clear stamp set! I have never use clear stamps before...I have to say they are great!! It sure takes the guesswork out of trying to position where to stamp on your paper...they are so awesome! I see lots of clear stamps in my future! :) I found Doodlebug Stamps at Archivers yesterday...what a find! I love Doodlebug, they have super cute things. I had to get the birthday set cuz I knew I had matching paper at home! I decided to make a boy and a girl card. One of each is always good and I am always needing b-day cards! a 2/5/7/10 bag

This was a featured tutorial in this weeks Weekly Inkling from Splitcoast Stampers. It was really easy and it's so fun to play around with. You could do tons and tons with this cute little bag...all you need is one sheet of paper! I found this paper at Hobby Lobby it looks very similar to one of the papers that will be coming out in the Holiday Mini Catalog. I am gonna have to go get a few more sheets cuz it's so cute! {**Oh on a completely unrelated side note...when I was at Hobby Lobby yesterday guess what I found??!...Cuttlebug stuff...they had die cuts and embossing folders...a whole little section of their very own...how exciting that I can find Cuttlebug stuff without having to drive so far away or order online!!...It serves my need for instant gratification well!! :) } Ok well anyway...have a good Thursday & thanks for stoppin by!

planting a garden?

These little seed pouches are the cutest things! I found the idea on katydid creations. She has some super cute ones and even shared her templates. You can download them from her blog. For a few more ideas Tiffany has some on her blog too! I made 2 of them last night when I couldn't sleep! I made the snowman and jack-o-lantern packets. It was so quick and easy...I think I am going to be using the sweet peas one in the near future for some cute baby shower invites!
